Privacy Policy

CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the "Volume Anchor Pro" app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Our Core Principle

Volume Anchor Pro keeps your device's volume at the level you choose: when the volume changes, the app sets it back. Detecting volume changes and restoring the volume are performed entirely on your device. The app does not use the microphone and never records, listens to, or analyzes any audio. Your volume settings, profiles, schedules, and correction log stay on your device and are never sent to our servers.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Collected Automatically

  • Anonymous crash reports: Via Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, we collect the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. This does not include personally identifiable information.
  • App usage statistics: Via Google Analytics for Firebase. We collect anonymous app usage events (such as the app being opened) together with device information and the device's advertising ID (AAID). We use this data to understand aggregate app usage and to measure the effectiveness of our own advertising campaigns (counting app installs that resulted from an ad). It is never used to display ads in the app.
  • Purchase / license information: We use purchase tokens issued by Google Play to verify your one-time "Premium" purchase. We never receive any payment information such as credit card numbers.

2.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device

  • Volume lock settings: The volume levels, lock modes (fixed or range), and minimum and maximum values you set for each volume type.
  • Profiles and automatic switching rules: Your saved profiles, time schedules, the apps you assigned to profiles, and the profiles you assigned to each output (speaker, wired headphones, Bluetooth).
  • Correction log: The total number of times the app has restored the volume and, if logging is on, the recent history (time, volume type, and the level before and after). You can turn the log off and clear it in the app.
  • PIN: If you protect your settings with a PIN, only a salted hash of the PIN is stored on your device; the PIN itself is not saved. Fingerprint or face authentication is handled entirely by Android, and the app never receives any biometric data.
  • Other settings: Theme and similar preferences.

All of this is erased when you uninstall the app or clear the app's data.

2.3 Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect

  • Audio of any kind (the app does not use the microphone)
  • The list of apps installed on your device, or which apps you use
  • Location information such as GPS coordinates
  • Phone number, contacts, photos, messages, or browsing history

2.4 Permissions the App Requests and Their Purposes

  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, Android 13+) — Used to show the ongoing notification that indicates the lock status and offers the pause and off buttons.
  • Foreground service — Used to keep watching the volume and restoring it while the app is in the background.
  • Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — Used to resume the volume lock after the device restarts or the app is updated.
  • Change audio settings (MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS) — Used to set the volume back to the level you chose. This is the core function of the app.
  • Usage access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) — Requested only if you turn on per-app automatic switching. It is used solely to detect which app is in the foreground so that the profile you assigned to that app can be applied. This information is used on your device only and is never collected, stored, or transmitted.
  • Do Not Disturb access (ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY) — Requested only if you want the ringtone and notification volumes restored while Do Not Disturb is on. In vibrate or silent mode, the app leaves these volumes alone so the mode is not switched off.
  • Biometrics (USE_BIOMETRIC) — Used only if you choose to unlock the settings protection with your fingerprint or face. Authentication is performed by Android.
  • Internet / network state — Used for anonymous crash and analytics reporting, verifying purchases through Google Play, checking for app updates, and loading the list of our other apps. The volume lock itself works without an internet connection.

To switch profiles by output, the app checks through Android's audio functions whether sound is playing through the speaker, wired headphones, or a Bluetooth device. It does not scan for or connect to Bluetooth devices.

3. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used only for the following purposes:

  • Operating and maintaining the Service
  • Verifying your Premium purchase
  • Understanding aggregate app usage and improving the app (analytics)
  • Measuring the effectiveness of our own advertising campaigns (install conversion measurement)
  • Diagnosing and fixing crashes
  • Responding to support inquiries
  • Complying with applicable laws

4. Third-Party Services

Volume Anchor Pro uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy.

  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — anonymous crash diagnostic data
  • Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC) — anonymous app usage statistics and measurement of our own ad campaigns (install conversions)
  • Google Play Billing (Google LLC) — payments are completed on the Google Play side
  • Google Play In-App Review and In-App Updates (Google LLC) — showing the review prompt and offering app updates within the app

The list of our other apps shown in the app is loaded from a public file on our own web server. The request contains no personal information beyond what any network connection requires, such as your IP address, and we do not use it to identify you.

Volume Anchor Pro does not display ads within the app and does not share your data with advertising networks in order to show you ads.

5. Data Retention

  • Crash reports: retained for 90 days, then deleted.
  • Analytics data: retained by Google Analytics for up to 14 months, then deleted.
  • Settings and logs stored on your device: kept until you delete them, uninstall the app, or clear the app's data.

6. International Data Transfers

We are based in Japan. The infrastructure used for crash diagnostics and analytics may be located in various countries. When you use the Service, the minimal information described above may be processed outside your country of residence under standard contractual safeguards.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you reside (e.g., the EEA, UK, California, Japan), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the limited information we hold. You can:

  • Reset or delete your device's advertising ID in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads)
  • Turn off the correction log or clear its history in the app
  • Uninstall the app or clear the app's data to erase all settings and logs stored on your device
  • Contact us at the address below to make a request regarding the information we hold

8. Children's Privacy

Volume Anchor Pro is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age applicable in your region). If we inadvertently collect information from such a child, we will delete it promptly upon being contacted.

9. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version is always published at this URL together with its effective date. We will also notify you within the app of significant changes as appropriate.
